To rock ice, you traded rice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Westerner by the name of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/candlecharts.com\/about\/the-nison-advantage\/#aboutsteve\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Steve Nison<\/a>&nbsp;\u201cdiscovered\u201d this secret technique called \u201cJapanese candlesticks,\u201d learning it from a fellow Japanese broker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Steve researched, studied, lived, breathed, ate candlesticks, and began to write about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Slowly, this secret technique grew in popularity in the \u201990s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To make a long story short, without Steve Nison, candlestick charts might have remained a buried secret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Steve Nison&nbsp;<em>\u306f<\/em>&nbsp;Mr. Candlestick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are Japanese&nbsp;candlesticks?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The best way to explain is by using a picture:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bpcdn.co\/images\/2016\/05\/grade2-candlestick.png\" alt=\"\u65e5\u672c\u306e\u30ed\u30fc\u30bd\u30af\u8db3\u306e\u89e3\u5256\u5b66\" title=\"\u65e5\u672c\u306e\u30ed\u30fc\u30bd\u30af\u8db3\u306e\u89e3\u5256\u5b66\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Japanese&nbsp;candlesticks can be used for any time frame, whether it be one day, one hour, 30-minutes \u2026.whatever you want!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They are used to describe the price action during the given time frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Japanese candlesticks are formed using the open, high, low, and close of the chosen time period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the close is above the open, then a&nbsp;<strong>hollow<\/strong>&nbsp;candlestick (usually displayed as white) is drawn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the close is below the open, then a&nbsp;<strong>\u5145\u586b<\/strong>&nbsp;candlestick (usually displayed as black) is drawn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The hollow or filled section of the candlestick is called the \u201creal body\u201d or&nbsp;<strong>\u30dc\u30c7\u30a3<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The thin lines poking above and below the body display the&nbsp;<strong>high\/low range<\/strong>&nbsp;and are called&nbsp;<strong>shadows<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The top of the upper shadow is the \u201c<strong>\u9ad8\u3044<\/strong>\".<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The bottom of the lower shadow is the \u201c<strong>\u30ed\u30fc<\/strong>\".<\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While we briefly covered&nbsp;Japanese&nbsp;candlestick charting analysis in the previous forex lesson, we\u2019ll now dig in a little and discuss them more in detail.
